Did a courier job today, not really the plan for the day with the little snow, ice, water, temps in the upper 20's today.

But it went well. The man I picked it up just before noon was "I didn't think you came out during the day." :) "Only when it is cloudy" "No twinkle skin for you?" "Sunblock one million.. keeps it down." lol Nice guy, even if he was 20 mins late.

Then a drive up to the eastern Kentucky hills. More snow, road not as clear, saw three wrecks. Got into the town and stop at a gas station to find bathroom out of service. Darn...

Made the trip across the busy 4 lanes to a Wendy's to find the dinning room closed due to no water. Ahh... the construction going on a few miles back. Seem they had a break and no water in this area, per the news, till Monday. O.o Ohh.. that would piss me off.

So I finish the last few miles to the movie place, early by about a hour. Really hoping I didn't have to 'hold it' for that long, glad to see the owners pickup. I asked him if I could use his bathroom and he said yes, of course. Told him about the water being out and he said to use it anyway. "But if you water is out..." "There is water in the tank. Look- you got to go, go." I went, but checked before and he still had water. I told him such when I came out to find him making popcorn. He gave me a bag of hot popcorn, soda on the house. "You are out in the cold, snow. Least I can do." Ahhh.. gave him a big thanks, but I enjoyed his bathroom better. We laughted as I waved bye.

20 miles from home I got stuck in traffic. A truck had slide off the road, got it see it being towed off. Tire truck, GoodYear. Front tires was off it- with another smaller tow truck behind it with the two front tires and broken axle. o.O Seems it was just his truck in the wreck, he went over a bank. Really hope he was alright.

Made me think of my customer from this morning. School is out for the holiday, what I usually judge the "If school is out for snow, we don't go either." I made the call to call of the move, she was mad. At noon today I was thinking I had made the wrong call- but seeing the wrecks, the temps, and the black ice ..... I made the right call for us.

Now- got Paula Dean Double Chocolate Gooey Butter Cake in the oven. :) Never made one before, had laid out all the stuff to do it when sis called about the movie run. I am craving something hot and good. From the odor coming from the oven... mmmmmm.. come on 7:05... hurry up and get here. lol

So... yeah. Sis still hasn't shown up yet. For someone who doesn't have a job..... *rant*... but me and my sister, brother, mom is going to have turkey with the fixing even if she and her company doesn't show up. Done waiting for her.

Wish my friends here a wonderful Thanksgiving. Be safe and enjoy the family/ friends you have.

*hugs*

While the weather is warning of snow.. well, truth told I would love it if we got 2 or 3 feet of the lovely white stuff. :D

The customer that job wasn't done last Friday might not tho.

While I would love to stay in, enjoy the beauty of the snow, wishing I had Christmas lights up to enjoy the magic snow brings to the earth...

The boys would like another 8 hour day on this paycheck. And the customer is trying to get out of the home so the new owner can take it over....

But still.... food is in for Thanksgiving other then milk, chicken broth. A short trip to the store and it would be all done till Monday. Push come to it- I have enough of those at my home to do the dinner.

But for the payroll, and the customer who is on pins and needles to get the job done.

It was forewarn this fall/ winter was going to be a bugger, colder then normal, bad weather. Not the best time to move, with holiday, waiting till the day before you was to of been out of the home.

*sigh*

Screw it- I WANT SNOW DAMN IT!!!

:D

And I might just get it since it is sleeting outside as I type this.

Went to the Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition today. Have to say it was stunning, and gave you such a understand of how big of a event this was in the time it happen.

Good friend went with me and we spent close to three hours reading, listening, and learning. I have always been a ...dare I say fan?... of this ship and its history. Today tho it really came home of the lose, the effect the over 1, 500 lives lost had on the world.

With a quick stop at the Kentucky Chocolate shop on the way out of the center, we went to have lunch. Yes, lunch. What can I say, I am a early bird and we was at the center when it open, first in line. :D

So we got into a nice restaurant, my favorite, and had a nice lunch without a crowd. Then it was a few shops we both wanted to go to- mine a food store, tried to find a shop she heard of that sold jewelry, purses. Never found it but we did go to a Household Goods place and just looked around.

Fun, didn't spend a lot of money other then food, a few pieces of candy, and the ticket to the Titanic exhibit. So- less then $35.00. *pat self on back*

A short visit with sister, and mother of the lady who went with me. They are room- mates of my sisters, known her high school. Known that family for many years, her brother even worked for us for a few years.

And she is also the lady who went with me last weekend to the closed down haunted hospital. My sister has problems with walking so she has no one to 'do things with'. She is fun to hang with, lots in common, and willing to do things she hasn't done before. lol At lunch she followed my lead on "never ate this before- going to try it". We both loved the parmesan breaded chicken with lemon, butter and white wine sauce. Mmm.. makes my mouth water just thinking of it. It has small tomatoes that was soaked in white whine, spinach on top. We both loved it. Couldn't talk her into the wood planked grilled fish, like I had before. lol

We did share a Creme Brulee. We are so southern, thinking some bananas, crust would of just made it better. LOL In other words- just give us some pudding. I did like the burned sugar on top tho.

Thinking this is the last trip till after the new year tho. Holidays are coming, got medical bills to pay off, weather is getting colder and colder. Speaking of, to only be in the teens tonight. :D But the day was lovely, cold enough to feel, and do things at 40's. Best kind of days for me, breathing, and willing to be outside.

Thinking a early night for me. Start showing the empty rental house at 11:00 am.

Oh- funny thing. Head light went out on my car. Just replaced one a few months ago, the other one blew out tonight on the way home. lol Oh well...

So yeah- cable company came to repair the internet. Funny how it was working when he got here, gave me the whole "Waste of time" look as he checked the speed, etc.

Then five hours later I come home to a slow internet that wouldn't even load youtube channel. So we, a very nice man on the phone, we took the cable to the laptop and yes sir, running at full speed, no problem.

Then when we unhooked it and took it back to the wireless- guess what? It wouldn't even find the router. A hour later I gave up, said thanks but in worst spot then when we started.

*sigh*

So I just unplugged everything. Box, router, turned off the laptop. Waited 30 minutes and looky.. all back up and running.

For now.

I love people. Man comes into the office and tells me he has some blacktop he needs to get rid of, order too much. Was in the area, laying driveway. Could I 'dump' it out on your parking lot? "Dump as in... ?" "I dump it, roll it out. Have to get it off the truck." "Well- I do have a spot" Meaning pot hole, need to buy gravel but if he is talking blacktop I don't have to buy... why not? Yes the trucks will bust it up, reason no black top is here now. And we have had some dumped before, concrete even. It is not fancy, just a patch of it really. But they have to get it off the truck before they set, nothing something you can 'return' really.

So I take him to the area, and he then starts the "It is $18.00 a .." "Well no. I am not buying any blacktop. I will put my money back into gravel. You said you needed a place to 'dump it' not sell me something I am not going to buy."

He gets huffy with me! Asshole.... get back in that nice dodge truck and try to sell someone else your 'dumping' line.

Sunday was fun. Got to spend the day with a dear family friend, talked a lot, remember why she has been a part of our family for over 30 years. :)

The hospital was kind of a bust tho. The man who meet up was nice, he kept telling us stories of the 'ghost' and unexplained noise the place had. That was fun, in a darken old hospital with rain and wind making the wood pieces covering the windows crack and moan. lol

What I didn't like was the ruined hospital. Now I know they had made it a haunted hospital so expected some but not that much. It was a tight maze of fake walls, the roof leaking and the heavy rain making the floor like ice. Ceiling tiles, trash, scrap wood, and just junk made me just shake my head on how they kept this place open to the public. As the owner is on the city board, it didn't take long to know how it was.

Just a mess. The OR Rooms had red paint *blood* splashed over the walls, leaving the white tile ruined. The building windows are busted, covered in wood at the part that is the Haunted House. Only a small section is not used for that, and those windows are busted out, left for rain and all kinds of animals to get in.

No equipment is left, only a few of the beds, a bath chair, and some metal cabinets are remaining of the original hospital. Most used in the haunted house part, painted red, ruined for any photos. And the one small older section they did not use for the haunted hospital was left to just ruin, no care taken to save it. My friend that went with me has worked in health care all her adult life and she noticed a call button, cord, laying in the trash. The man, who kept talking about how he is trying to 'save' the history, the building, just left it laying. No repect is given to the place at all.

He is using it to make money on the haunted house, no repairs being made. Unlike another old hospital call Weaverly Hills in our home state. That is one that is being repaired, money going back into to try and save it. I have no problems with that haunted house/ tours given when you can see that the folks care about it. Heck- a broom, trash pickup could of helped this place, some plastic on the busted window holes, a new roof- that is what is needed to save this place. I know- money. But there is no excuss for trash, broken ceiling tile laying on the floor, beer bottles, food bags from fast food places.

But it was still fun. Got away for a while, good company, good food at a local place in the town we went to. Might of gotten a few photos, will see when I get time. I did learn about some of the few medical things left in the building from my friend, she was able to answer questions he and I both had.

Sad when you remember he had been a EMT, worked out of the hospital for years. "I got a love for the place.." The trash, beer cans could say otherwise. A broom and some effort would of shown more love.

It is so sad to see a place which once thrived, go to such ruin without so much as a nod in it's direction in regards to acknowledging it once was a place of importance.

Got the last thing done for Sunday trip to the closed down hospital. Two years in the planning but it is going down. :) I got a new side kick for this one as Cat has family in and cooking Thanksgivings dinner.

My sister roommate is coming down to go with me…driving 160 miles. And giving up 12 hours of her time. She said she wanted to go as she loves the places I go into. That and she always worked in the medical field. I couldn't pick a better trip for her. I just hope the place isn't ruin with the haunted house the run each year. Hope some of the hospital is still there.

I know I am looking forward to this. :D

Part of the job I hate- letting a man go who was dependable, on time for work, never bitched and moaned. But he just wasn't catching on, and not catching on after 2 months leads to others getting hurt and items being damaged. Not listening to the other men who have years on you isn't going to work either.

But he did have a BIG plus- he showed up and worked, kept his mouth shut.

Really divided on this one, really really am. *sigh*

But in turn I got back my more exprienced worker. He does show *right on time* and never really called in sick. Of course he did leave me with only a few days notice and worked at a plant, making big money till he no longer was working there. He contacted me after being gone four months and said if I needed any help...

He is able to do the billing on the job site and get it right. He is able to keep track of the time used. The other person doing that just never got the hang of it. And he is really good with the customers. I get calls and "Is XXX still with you? I loved him on our last move". No other workhand has that going for them.

I just fear he will leave again and I lost a good man who would show up and work.

Another point of hiring him back is he can do it all but drive. That way if the driver finds his job he has been looking for for months now *yes, he told me* I have a loader at least, train person to keep the jobs going.

*sigh*

I just hate having to let the one go. I told him to put me down as a refrence, I can write him a letter. And would call him back if one *driver I think* leaves me.

He took it well, said he was sorry as he liked the work, partime that it was. :(

I suck.

Wish owing/ running a business came with a manual. So much is your gut feeling, and I just hope mine don't kick me in the ass for my actions today.

That was one of the things I hated most about being a shift manager.

My boss would leave all the training up to me and after a certain training period (3-4 months) if a worker couldn't catch on, we had to let them go.

We had one guy who was awesome in every way except not catching on in anything. He couldn't get the hang of the grill, messed up all the time on prep, even when I would keep showing him the recipes and even made up a recipe book so he could follow it (he never got the hang of measurements), he would always make my register drawer short by over changing people or miscounting the change, and would burn food all the time. We had to let him go after he couldn't get the hang of the kitchen. He would swing open the bread oven without saying "oven doors opening, hot pans coming out". During a really busy shift and came up behind me and burned the back of my arm so badly I had to go to the ER because I had a patch of blisters from below my short sleeve to my elbow. We would prep for an entire day, meaning if he was on prep and messed up we had to toss close to $200-$250 worth of food out. I felt bad that he couldn't catch on, but when I couldn't train him, three other people, including the Owner tried. It was sad because other than that he had great customer rep; they loved him, very friendly, showed up religiously ten minutes early to every shift, and was bilingual.

Sometimes, you have to do what is best for the company, even though it sucks to let a good guy go.

Now two more bills, the ones that are short paperwork, rates... the hard ones.. to go and bills are all caught up.

Then... :) Hope to end the year without any 'work' left over my head.

I freely tell you that I am not a 'tech' person. Technology is just beyond me.

Point-

I had two days without cable in my living room because I somehow turned the TV to channel 2 when it has to be on 3 for the box to work. Yeap- took a tech to come out and find that one.

And just now spent a hour on the phone with the cable company that has internet service also. Seems I, snuggled in my chair under a blanket as I watch the snow melt outside, turned off my internet thingy at the front of the laptop. o.O Reason it would not connect.

lol

Catching up on a few shows-

Face Off - winner is right on the button for me. She is such a talent. I loved her Wizard, but have to say Tates lady was nice, I think. Ray just didn't even come close, I don't think.

While I would of been happy with Tate or Laura- I am glad she won. :) I hope Tate comes back in some way tho. Sure he had several offers on the table before the night was over tho.

American Horror Story- can this show get any better?? :D Walking dead, chain saw witch, acid in the eyes, dead baby given life back by the most powerful witch of all. I mean... shit but I love this show. Just really glad they took the fish eye lens out.

Supernatural- lol You got to love as show after 9 years and they can still make you laugh. I was thinking poor Dean was going to dry hump the poodle. ;)

The Originals- didn't see that ending coming. But he kept his word, his brother did not kill the witch, as he himself snap her neck like a twig. Vampires the way I like them- cold hearted, and ready to kill.

Some great shows what with Grimm, Arrow, SHIELD. Finally some shows worth watching, even if I have to find most online because my cable company doesn't carry them. :P Time Warner sucks.

I cannot wait to see what is in store next week. :D I try not to watch the sneak peaks for the next show because all week I get antsy trying to figure it out. Hahah I want to get AHS: Asylum for Christmas (maybe a got to myself) because I missed that entire season and cannot find it anywhere online, yet.

I need to catch up on Supernatural, I am sooooooooo behind on it.

The Walking Dead. I wonder how they was going to handle the killings Carol did. Was she right to do them? I think something of that nature should of been voted on by the 'group' of elders. If you came to me and said "Let's kill them, stop it now." I might of said yes. Or at least put them in a area by themselfs. But that debate is sitting wrong by me because the bodies hadn't even been found and more was getting sick.

And they was letting health folks around the sick, the boyfriend finding the bodies as he was bringing flowers to her.

Just didn't mess well with me, how she was trying to say she did it for the better of the group.

But her killing them, standing there not saying a word while Rick got the crap beat out of him- she should of step up then and said "I did it." She would never of told if Rick hadn't asked her. She could of lied tho.

Either way I was thinking this week- how will they write this? Would they lock her up? Use the jail for what it is? Would they make her leave, vote her out of the jail. That was the closest thing I could think of. Or she dies before any action is taken, saving the ill or someone. I was kind of hoping for it, blaze of glory and all.

Last night show- it showed her being cold, ready to do what was needed to keep herself safe. Willing to leave the one new man behind because he wasn't on time for the meet up.

Wrong? No. She is right in that.

Was Rick wrong in leaving her? In setting her up in a car, supplies, weapons and told to go find a new home?

She did bring a lot to the table. She cooked, took care of folks, worked all the time. She was good with the medical stuff. She shouldn't of been treated that way.

I think Rick should of warned her, not like he hasn't done some questionable things himself.

He should of talked with her, express his concerns, and moved past this. No more taking lives into her own hands.

And never spoke of it again.

Instead he lost the group one fine person, with skills that will be missed. Shame Rick had the whole cob up his butt when everyone is fighting to stay alive. She killed the two for a good reason, in her mind. She really believed she was trying to save the group. Like throwing out two rotten apples out of the bag of good ones.

But then it made you think- would the lady with the limp leg been next? She wanted the two new folks on last night show to help, to do a job. And they wanted to. Note Rick didn't want them to help due to the injury, to slow with the foot.

Strong VS Weak? who is to make that call?

Maybe Carol did.

And maybe that is why she had to go. I hope we see her again, can't wait to see how the group takes the news of what he did.

Or will he lie? Say she was attacked? Dead? Will Rick lie to keep the group from demanding her back, going after her? To keep the peace- will he lie about what he did?

Is he any better then her, if he does? He did what he believed is best for the group, to keep them safe.

Will he lie about it tho?

Next week we will see...

It was hard to pick the poem/ story class so we just dug deeper in the pockets and explain the prizes to show how much we loved the work.

Yes, there is winners, but all who enter are winners as they made it fun for everyone. :D

Thanks to all who put forth the effort. Sure next year we will hold it again.

Got my letter in the mail- boobs are nice and healthy. Yeah! With my mother's history it is a good thing.

Nose is doing well. No bleeding, had just a few spot bleeds when I put strain on it is all. Still sore to the touch, think that is just going to take time.

Last few days of the Halloween Haunted House. Got lots to catch up on after this is over. Want to go to some places, take some photos, some day trips before the weather gets so bad I have to stay in.

:)

Time to add some fun to my days.
